St. Mark’s Lakeshore is a farmhouse bed & breakfast set in mature landscape, on the shores of Lough Ree in County Westmeath This is the perfect place to spend a few days whether it is the peace and quiet of a rural retreat, or an activity-filled break that you’re looking for!
The country setting is idyllic for walking, painting, photography or bird watching. The quiet country roads around St Mark’s provide miles of (unmarked) cycle routes, although relatively flat, the occasional hill will require some pedalling, but you will be rewarded with stunning views over the lake and surrounding countryside. The lake itself offers great boating, whether in a touring-kayak or a motorised boat. St Mark’s have fishing boats for hire, and nearby Quigley’s marina can offer larger vessels.
Only 4 kilometres from Glasson Village (with a selection of fine restaurants and bars) and 5 minutes from Glasson Golf and Country Club, St Mark’s location is second to none. Portlick woodlands are a 20 minute walk away and offer delightful amblings through mixed forestry.
Michael and Ann Hopkins are your hosts at St Mark’s and they can help you with enquiries regarding touring the general area – both Goldsmith country and Clonmacnoise are only a short drive away.
Our B&B accommodation offers both single and double rooms. Single rates are 50 euro and doubles are 40 euro per person sharing.
